right then, the plot thickens, just got a call from Collin (chappy who is fixing my car) and his paint guys, who he says are miserbale gits, cant find a paint match for my car.
can't get anywhere close apparently with anything under BMW.

im really worried now as i dont want it to look sh*t which you can gaurantee will happen as they dont seem so confident in spraying a car thats paintwork is over 5 years old and may have changed in age to original.

basically i need to find the original chap who sold me the car........please see next thread, need all the attention i can get!

well if the paint can't be matched surely their insurance will have to pay for a full respray.

somehow i dont think they will go for that! plus its alot of work to respray a whole car rather than just blow the wing and a-panel in!

I'm sure they can match it digitally now. I'm certain mine was anyway when I had my accident.

you would not believe the hassle this is causing me.
A panel is now having to be sent to a specialist with a spectrum analyser (sounds like something off star trek) to have it matched because nobody knows what colour it is.
This is going to take up to two weeks to get back so my poor old GT is sitting in a garage in primer!
Collin said he would paint it a close blue so i can have it back, as its been two weeks so far and then take it back in to be sprayed properly!

Now is it just me or is this a little pointless, and how can so many companies not be able to match the damn paintwork!?

we have a company in Reading that you can drive up to the door and they will match the paint and make it for you while you wait. Icant undertsand why there has been so much trouble in matching this up. ;D

Hope they sort it out soon so you can have your car back.

im meant to be in stoke this weekend too, seeing the mrs at uni, so would have loved my car back, looks like she's gonna have to go without all becasue of some blue paint!

1 bonus from all this, atleast (hopefully) it will be a good match!

hi again. when i posted saying about montreal blue, i got confused with another blue in the bmw range, which is estoril blue! the day i read your post, a friend of mine who owns a bodyshop had some second hand panels delivered, and they were in estoril blue, again, from late 90's m3. doubt this is no help now, as you say they'v checked bmw blues already.......

thay have now apprarently found a kind of match (which is no good to me - i knida need an exact match!!) so ill ring collin later to check on progress, but im not holding my breath!

they apparently found a match which is some kinda motorsport bmw blue (im sure i told the sprayers this previously) and Collin now seems as hacked off with them as i am!

so we'll see later, if i get it back, ill post up some pics and see if u reckon its any good!
