With the Deox, provided the rust is not too deep you are left with bright shiny pitted metal that you just need to cover over with something to protect it.

They also do a paint you can apply to those surfaces, Hydrate 80.

Never used that but I do use the Electrox.

Deox Gel is a great product which will remove all traces of rust back to bare metal was amazed how well it worked on my shell though it is very labour intensive especially in areas with limited access, products like Hydrate 80 and Jenolite are just converters the rust will come back.

Another great product is Bilt Hambers Electrox which is a zinc rich primer great for priming areas that have been cleaned with Deox Gel. Both Electrox and Hydrate 80 need to be applied to a bare metal surface to work, so it would be a pointless exercise applying a Zinc rich primer irrespective of brand over a rust converter the rust will still come back.

Would be interesting to see some head to head reviews of Bilt Hambers products compared to those marketed by Buzzweld, both seem to receive rave reviews everywhere.

I believe Practical Classics did a medium term test on all these kinds of products on a Sierra. Was probably 4 or 5 years ago.
