you have to be over 19 to jion miniworld..

this year was my first insurance on my own, and my policy for a clubman est turbo, with alloys and seats, is 520 3rd party.

so if u had NCB with miniworld you'd be laughing

but for some thats too expensive, so running on their parents insurance is the only option until they can afford to get their own

(this is the point of view for people with 1275 Coopers as their first car to be insured on.)

i went thru my dad because i wont need any no claims. After 12months of driving, i am going on the business motor traders policy, which entitles me to drive any car etc, so i can be insured on the mini and any other car i may have. this allows me to have a daily driver aswell as my mini. Again i will get no NCB, but if i dont crash or dont claim, there will be a record of some what that i havent claimed and have been driving xx years so insurance will be quite cheap if i ever get my own policy.

For the 1st couple of years, your better on your parents because insurance companies are ripping people off @ £1400 etc, its alot for a young driver.

Some of the mini 'specialist' insurers work it by what engine it has in it. HIC told me I could have any body mods like cage and arches etc at no extra cost, they do the policy on the engine.

I have been with HIC for about 3 years paying around £250 tpft, but this year it went up loads and i hadnt declared any engine mods! So I rang around and ended up getting put thru to Norwich Union by accident. They quoted me £280 tpft fully declaired all mods, which I thourght was very reasonable!

Another thing to take into considderation when trying to get insurance is your post code. I live in Plymouth and my post code is PL2, on their database this tells them that i live near the city centre (PL1), even tho its about 2 miles away. The city centre is regarded as a higher risk area, so the premium will be more. If I lived in area PL12 for example, then my premium would be less again. Also, having someone with a few years NCB as a named driver like one of your parents of partner brings the premium down too.
