That's what I was thinking don't think a cheap bearing would do I've head they're unreliable so Timken it is.Thanks everyone for your help

Don't buy your Timkens from eBay, Amazon etc only reputable suppliers. They might well have Timkens on the box but be a bad copy, there's a load of fakes out there

I want to buy from a local Timkin supplier but can't find the bearing numbers.

One can get the individual Timken bearings but that excludes the spacer. Mini bearing "kits" are specially made up (or assembled) for the Mini.

A quick google on this forum will give you all the info on other peoples experience with mini wheel bearings :proud:

It is a rather scientific subject :D

I'm wondering about the numbers on my two genuine Timkin front wheel bearing sets that arrived today.  On the 4 inner races the numbers are the same.  On the outer races there are different numbers.  One of the four has LM67014 - 097 -  France -  JL0823; The second has LM67014 - 097 - France - JL0816; The third has LM67014 - 097 - France - JL0820; The fourth had LM67014 - Fnce - JL0817. The hand-engraved numbers on each set are the same.  I have no doubt that these are genuine and from a reputable supplier but is the difference between the numbers in bold above of any significance?  Also, one bag had a notice that it was a matched set, the other did not.  Both sets has all parts banded together.  I may be over-nitpicking.

The JL numbers should all be different between sets. They are the 'matching numbers' of each set.

Not sure what you mean by "matching numbers" of each set.  I've four bearings with four different JL numbers.  They don't match any other numbers.

It sounds like you have mixed bearings, none making up a matched set.

I have never used Loctite to retain the bearings.  The outer race should fit snugly in the hub.  I had to purchase new hubs a few years ago because with the old ones the outer race moved a bit and someone had tried to peen the surface of the hub where the outer race fit to make it fit, but that was short lived.  Only option was new hubs.
