I've had the timing checked, which was out and also someone has looked over a few things and thinks the fuel pump is dodgy.
What would be a good replacement fuel pump - carb is a HIF44 SU?
Thanks

Hi - thanks for that.
Couple of questions...whats the pro's and cons of using an electronic fuel pump?
Where would the pressure regulator fit? And what does help/improve?

Hi I fitted my electric fuel pump on the subframe left hand side and the regulator /filter in the engine bay where ever you have space usually near the windscreen wiper motor the pressure regulator give precise fuel pressure to the carb and also the filter is in an easy position to change as and when.
As for pro's a lot of people on here talk about if the mechanical pump fails then you have petrol in your oil which could be really bad for the engine, cons cost and installing

Thanks.
Is there a downside if i go for the competition pump, rather than the standard?
Just thinking - a possible upgrade in the future was to go to twin carbs, rather than the single carb thats on there at the minute. And I think twin carbs would need the competition pump? But for the here and now I will be sticking with the single carb - so just wondered if the competition electronic fuel pump would be ok?
Also - re the fuel pressure regulator. Its say weber dellorto carb. Mine is a Hiff44 SU - is that ok?

The other pumps just provide more fuel and higher pressures. Not needed on a Mini.
Why would the twin carbs need a competition pump? Same engine, same fuel demand.

Just learning all this stuff........If its the same fuel demand from 2 carbs as 1 carb, why would coopers/cooper s's have 2 carbs rather than 1?

The carbs don’t demand fuel, the engine does.
Twin carbs tend to give a better throttle response and a different torque delivery.

ahh ok. But 2 carbs wouldn't need more fuel....as in the amount of fuel that one carbs wants, 2 carbs now want....so twice as much. Or it doesnt work like that?
In any case, whether I stick with the one carb, or upgrade to 2 carbs. The standard electronic fuel pump is fine?
Would you say that an electronic fuel pump and fitting a regulator is generally the best option?

If i go down the electric fuel pump route, will i need blanking plates etc for the existing fuel pump?
