okay -tried checking my valve cleances - as not been done for over a year - jacked up car -put on axle stands left in gear , turned wheel to try and see valves opening and closing - ( no flat ground to push bck and forth at home ) - but o sign of movement from valves ?
how many turns of the whee in forth do you need to get movement from the valves ? or am I missing something ?

You need the load of the car to turn the engine

Did you jack both frnt wheels... in which case the diff will just spin? Could try with one front wheel jacked up and one on the ground. But even in fourth gear (which is the easiest one for turning the engine) you'll rotate the engine by the FD-ratio x2, for each single turn of the roadwheel - never tried it but that seems like quite a challenge unless you're The Hulk. So maybe also take the plugs out?

They don’t make 64hp with that kit fitted, more like 58 ish.
And that’s in a new engine. The 998 head casting has a flow
Limit around 60hp so difficult to get past that without massive mining of the head. If your gettjng 55hp then that’s about the going output.

Both wheels off the ground will allow the  other wheel to turn as much in the opposite direction without moving the crownwheel, gears or engine. If you hold the other wheel still it still has to do the opposite to the turning wheel relative to the crownwheel. So the crown wheel turns at half the speed of the wheel you're turning (in the same direction). How much the engine turns depends on the gears between it & the crown wheel, but you'll get more than 1 complete turn of the crank to the wheel as a minimum.

jack one wheel up put in fourth gear and remove plugs, easy to rotate wheel by hand and easier than chasing car up and down the garage this is how i do mine. Another but less easy way if unable to jack car up use spanner on alternator nut. again with plugs removed
