Using a mot emission tester I can see that the emissions are very high on start up but as soon as the fans come on it’s like a switch is flicked and the emissions drop right down.
Any ideas what could cause over fuelling on star up? My guess is a engine management sensor or poor fuel injector management set up. I would be great full for any suggestions.
Thank you.

From cold, they do run super rich. Once the car is hot and the fan not turning, are the emissions stoich at idle?

I am no expert in MINI injection but based on my standalone EFI cars the temp sender tells the ECU to run off the main map as warmup is finished. It then uses a combination of rpm and manifold pressure to inject the correct amount of fuel. The lambda sensor fine tunes this.Without live data it could be any/all of these or exhaust leak, failing cat fuel pressure regulator fuel pump worn out engine and lastly anything else. You need to see the data the ECU is seeing and use some interpretation of the readings.Good hunting.Steve..
