You know that the washer should  NOT bottom out. If it does your taper is worn out on the crank or the flywheel.

 

if it bottoms out you can not tighten the flywheel correctly.

Finally got the whole thing back together tonight will be the first time I try and start the car. Fingers crossed everything is fine I'm nervous to say the least haha

Success!! So I've just moved the car backwards and forwards, indicating the clutch repair must've been successful. Albeit the biting point was very low, I imagine it just needs a good bleed! I haven't managed to drive it as I don't have it insured or anything at the minute. But it's looking good. So thanks to everyone for your help and advice. Touch wood the flywheel doesn't come flying into my nuts at 4000 rpm haha
