Hi everyone welcome to the progression of mine and my sisters minis as I try to get them back to good working order.

I got the car mine (C453 HHR) 2016 as a non runner which luckily came down to the previous owner being incompetent and fitting a wrong part in the distributor

My sisters (B661 WBU) came barely running from liverpool in 2019.

Good luck.  Always loved the Ritz.  My sister had one from new.  Only seen one a Beaulieu and one on the L2B.

 

Be careful with the grey mirror.  I had to wait ages for one when I broke my sister's glass one!  Black are common but not the grey ones (sure it had a grey grille and grey wheel arches).

After a rough tune up i managed to get its first show in 2016

In December 2019 i decided to tackle the rear subframe on HHR so out it came

I then cleaned up the underside and found a nice patch of rust which i was kind of expecting

after that i had to fix a few of the threads in the subframe and it was all assembled back together

i then gave the engine bay a good clean up and a paint as well as the subframe and steering rack

After this i set my attention on the engine, i wanted to get the head converted to unleaded but after i took the head off i realized that it had already been done which was good. I then decided to clean up and paint the block when i broke a bolt off in the gearbox housing when trying to take off the bottom engine steady bracket which was broken. the only way to solve this was to take off the clutch and flywheel and its housing when i found the state of the end of the flywheel. the previous owner said he changed the clutch but obviously he didn't do a great job of it

After that i painted the engine

i then cleaned up the wheel arches and found a nice hole hiding behind the shock mount which i cut out ready for welding

small update this weekend while as i was waiting for parts. helicoil was put in a damaged thread in the gearbox casting and the patch was welded in. my second hand crank i got has also gone off for a regrind
