I've not tried it for this but it's supposed to be a really good engine flush too (iron block ).

No, it's not yellow when mixed, it's clear when all the deox has disolved. It turns yellow as it removes the rust.

Could be a great idea.

Does anyone know how it reacts with various Aluminum alloys, Brass, Tin and Lead ?

Citric acid is fine with aluminium, you can use a bath of it it to gloss up Alu parts. Brass, tin, lead, solder, braze etc no idea... Not tried it yet.

It's commonly used by the Minor guys so I guess it will be fine in a Mini.

One word of caution, one of the guys had what seemed to be a reaction when it mixed with anti-freeze and blue crystals were formed. So a good flush out with water before adding the citric as a precaution I think.

I've used MetalRescue and EvapoRust before with good results for rust converting inside of motorcycle gas tanks. This stuff isn't an acid, it's a chemical "chelating" agent which converts rust back to de-oxidized state. Safe for all metals and not harmful tro environment or skin etc.
