Sorry for the lack of news on this one lately, ots been a lot of monotonus prep work and nothing really noteworthy so here are the highlights.
Boot and parcel shelf are now prepped
And here are some before shots of the engine bay prior to prep
And then after a clean up, de rust and some stopper over some visible pitting and weld joins, it's ready
The stopper still isn't rubbed down in those shots. I forgot to photograph that part.
After going back round the shell checking repairs, de rusting the roof gutters and repairing a dent in the roof, I put the last bit of stopper over the welds on the rear valance and this stage of the exterior prep is complete
Next step is primer.
Before the high build can go on, I want to use an isolator on any areas of paint that I'm unsure about. It's not practical to remove every last trace and I don't want any reactions so this is a very convenient solution.
In these photos, there is the isolator (green) and acid etch (brown) which I have applied to all bare metal areas to give a nice base for the high build.
And then 15 mins later, I applied 3 coats of highbuild primer to the exterior panel work, engine bay, parcel shelf and boot area.
Next step will be to pop the shell on the rotisserie so that I can prep the underside and inside of the shell.
Cheers
Ben
