Old ones in good condition were generally better quality. New genuine Weber ones are decent too, but some of the cheap reproduction non Weber ones are a bit poorly made.
If you aren’t in a hurry to get one right now, you might see a more appropriate one come up in the next few weeks/months

Use the 45 with that linkage and that long inlet
Looks like the same set up as on my spare 1293
You have a spare engine ðŸ¤ðŸ¤ðŸ¤
I did the deal on the 45!! My local classic car garage ‘old skool’ tunes Webber’s and when I have him the spec of my mild 1320 he advised the 45 straight away, with a 34mm choke (4.5 Venturi?) F2 emulsion tube?
The seller advertised the inlet as a Swan Neck but I don’t think it is. Been advised that steel ones run better, but if this one is ok it will do for now. Need to crack on and finish my cylinder head, build the subframe, drop the old one and engine, get a Webber bulkhead box and start cutting, welding and spraying. Summer holiday project will try and have it all done for Castle Combe??

One thing I found, those Webers are LOUD! maybe not so bad if you have the box, but on a car with the open hole behind the speedo? Yikes!
Good luck with your project, but I've been really happy running HIF44's on my engines - I'll bet you'll get tired of the Weber on a street driven car. Wear earplugs if you go more than an hour away.....

I've done lots of long trips with a Weber & Dellorto side draft. We have bulkhead insulation blankets which helps, but it's definitely liveable for daily trips and the occasional long trip.
I mean if you did hours in the car every single day with a passenger that'd get a bit old, but for a fun weekend/road trip it's fine

Pics of Weber box in bulkhead for Johnie alpha
What size bulkhead box did you fit? Did you make it yourself or buy one.
I need to do the mod, but thought I'd make the largest enclosure I can to allow for good air flow around the carbs.
The only ones, I can find are these and these or these , although I thought RetroMinis had gone out of business?

Tony,
Any chance you could post up the dimensions of your Weber Bulkhead box that you put the pics up of in this thread?
I am probably going to make my own, but need the dimensions to get it right.
I also need to account for any filter options I go for (yet to be worked out).
