You don't need a hole in the bonnet for a 28/36 DCD. I use one of these as a first start on a rebuild nowadays but used to run a 997 with a 544 cam many moons ago. Very reliable, economical if just 1st choke is used.

Hi whistler don't suppose you have any closer pictures of the choke and throttle cable linkeages Do you?

Fitting mine soon so could do with some tips.

Cheers

Based on my experience rolling road tuning Webers on 1275 A series engines, you could use either a 40 DCOE with 32 mm venturis or a 45 DCOE with 34 mm venturis and you would have to test them back to back to determine which was best in your application. Not possible to choose between the two without a specific test on your engine and not much to gain or lose with either choice. With nothing else to go on, I would choose a 40 DCOE with 32 mm Venturis and start with 125 main jets. That should be too rich. The rest is fine tuning which you can only determine with testing..

I made a small bracket for the throttle cable. No choke cable as the weber doesn't need one. 2 pumps on the throttle and it starts, winter or summer.

someone told me once Weber chokes are basically useless really, not sure what their basis for that was

mostly when I've actually seen them used in person is on formula 4 cars where they pre-warmed the engines with heater guns on the block and exhaust manifold before starting, and then just revving until running smooth.  not really that practical for a road car though I guess

and one lunatic (meant with respect lol) who has a red top in the front of a clubby but that's a whole different thing.  the sound is just outrageous lol  I love it

I put a choke cable on my Dellorto DHLA and it was so much easier to start, no pumps needed, no feathering the throttle to keep it running. I think that the people who say not to fit the choke cable have never actually tried one

Ive had 45 webers on 3 of my minis.
Never used the choke on any of them, not needed.
