Hello Spider

I understand what is the reason of the test but after this long conversation I can not see what could be the external fault.

Sure, if you're certain it's internal, start pulling the engine out. It's only to be 100% certain of which side of the roll pin the issue is. I've seen countess people think the worst and dive in at the deep end over the years, only to find it was something simple.

Today I focus on the broken thread. I hope I can solve it in the car. Than re-think the whole issue  :shy:

Thanks for your words !

Yeap, most 1/2" Drill Chucks have a 1/2" UNF Thread in them.

Good one, very resourceful !

Good news : job done  :proud: It was a pretty easy task.

Bad news : another thread broken when I torqued the screws  :mmkay:

Should I put helicoil into all the holes?!

I tend to only do what's needed, but I guess there's not reason why you couldn't do them all.

I had a pretty good access to the hole that I repaired already. The next one is closer to the gearbox side, the drill chuck just won't be in-line with the hole. I had to find out a tool again...

To the gearshift : I removed and inspected the detent sleeve, ball and spring. Also checked the spool through the hole, but don't see any fault. After assembled the unit it feels a little better when selecting gears. Stripdown of the gearbox is cancelled for now.

Hello again

I read some more clutch-related articles, and they used to check/adjust the backplate straps before installing to the crank.

As I didn't know about this check I did not make it  >_<

Could this mistake led to the issue with the gear changing ?
