Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I will go with what the manual valve under the hood. So if my car was suppose to come with a heater valve that works from inside the car? How would I turn the fan on if I have to pull the knob to open the valve? Just asking, since I would then have to change the heater knob too.


I could be wrong but looking your picture I think your car is a bit earlier than a ‘65—floor mounted starter switch, small speedo cowl, early switch panel and magic wand shifter, so over the years has been modified. No matter, its your car now and unless you’re looking to restore it, shape it your own design. I like the idea that it has a variable speed control for the fan.

Thanks.  There is no floor mounted starter, that is the highbeam switch (or dipped beam?!?! in UK?) The body is at least a 65 since I have the sun visors that swivel from the corner with one permanent attachment point.  I'm looking to get new visors now, since my car came without.  But who knows how many times it has been "restored" over the years.  It's a fun little car so far.  I took my first actually drive around the neighborhood this weekend.  still have some sorting to do.
