Hi Guys,

Could you please tell me the name of this part?  I can't find it in my Haynes manual, though I see the part in a picture for Chapter 10 Suspension, section 17-4.

We're replacing all the shocks, and the bolt for the right rear shock needed to be sawed off, so I had to cut through the rubber part whose name I can't find.

My guess: Hydrolastic Displacer

Thanks,

It's either the top stud of the rear Shock Absorber or the top stud of the Helper Spring, depending on the model of your Mini. Hopefully, it'll be the former.

Here's the picture from Haynes.  It's that rubber bit below the metal ring.

From your description, ‘the rubber bit below the metal ring’, its the rubber bushing supplied with the shock absorber.

The displaced is in the subframe.

if a hydro car it will be the mounting for the helper spring.

Or the shock if its been upgraded (although this is only usually done at the front, but who know what's gone on in the past).

He does say "the bolt for the right rear shock needed to be sawed off" so there's a chance it not on hydro.
