One advantage i can see is that at the moment i risk loosing my tax frre status by using a non mini front subframe
would this be seen by those in authority as a standard "AXLE" for the points scoring ?

Being able to fit the k-series under a standard roundnose would definately be something i would consider when I go about 16v'n my mini, i'm currently thinking of the suzuki engine, but with the greater availibility of k-series engines, i could be swayed. Please develop this frame!

How is it going to be built to allow it to fit under the standard rnd nose? Will the engine be set with the same tilt as original?

i gues it would have to tilt a little to give clearance for the inlet manifold over the bulkhead! dont think this kit would be ok with a std servo tho!! move over to remote servo or put the master cylinder on the other side of the car!!

theres alot of talk of the r65 box not being up to the power of a 1800 - in my experience thats just plain wrong. Having done almost 20k miles in a tuned 1800 metro with r65 box including trackdays, 1/4 miles etc i can say it handles the power just fine. The only issues are if you try and tune the engine past 160/170 bhp then it cant handle the torque. Obviously this is subject to you finding a good gearbox - if you use a poo one, it will break no matter what power you put through it.

Good luck with it Matt, the K series needs a bit more support from frame builders IMO. I would have a frame off you and twin engine it, but id want the wider track of a metro to match my rear track

Should be no probs with either as it is a new frame rather than a used.

i cant see it being too difficult to adapt a honda frame to suite the k!! the upper mounts literally need reversing and i think its only a case of making the lower mount suite the k lump and box!!

is the pg1 box any bigger than a honda one??

no problem , been argued allot :w00t:

ok some is profit ! LOL
then you got cost of metal ( laster cutting etc)
labour to build
rent to pay for building to make it in.
insurance (in case i get sued)

then its also not a full time living either.

in the case of the vtec it uses a custom rear mount etc.

agree with all that or not .. does not bother me .. but its life.

ah i see, well you only had to mention laser cutting and i realised why the price is set where it is lol, and profit is the reason for a business so that's cool mate!

And we know we'd get quality :w00t:

I can accept the price for a complete scratch built custom frame 100% new metal,
but not for a modified metro frame.
