If you pick up a tough stone that lodges on top of the caliper and wedges against the rim, it could cut an Aluminium wheel in two in the same way that a stone can cut through the sidewall of a rear tyre when wedged on top of a rear radius arm.

Wow you the man!! We’ll I’ll give it a chance and update in couple of weeks:)

Found my template, I had a fancy I'd taken a chance with mine fitting. My template shows zero clearance, I was pleased to find I had 1mm clearance in reality!

In reality do 7.9" discs offer any advantage over 7.5"?
I can't see it being noticeable myself but you never know.
And the 1mm clearance is cringe worthy.

1mm clearance is more than double the clearance I had for 25 years when I ran 8.4" vented discs with modified metro turbo calipers and modified 5x10 GB alloys.
There is a noticable increase in pedal pressure required going from 8 4" to 7.9" and that's a comparison using the very same pair of 8.4" discs I turned down to 7.9" and the same set of pads. KAD calipers use the same sized pistons as metro turbo too.
I'd imagine a similar increase in pedal pressure again going to 7.5"

ok amigos, I've decided to go for the 7.75" option. I'll stand on the safe side.
Once I get the brakes I'll post pics and installation updates! Thanks everyone!
