Hi Need to know which thread (UNC,UNF,etc.) the engine studs are on the bottom (block side) for a slightly dodgey mounting to a engine stand don’t want to ruin the studs so I’m trying to find a bolt to replace them. All help is taken.

Cheers

Loads of studs on a block also loads of bolts.

the threads on the bottom of the block to gearbox are a UNF form thread. Oil filter are a UNC form alternator bracket is UNF form and the threads at the back of the engine are UNF form (clutch end).

but knowing exactly which ones you are on about would help.

Sorry for being unclear I meant the studs on the top which go through the head.

The thread in the block for the head studs is 3/8" UNC.

However these are about the last place you would bolt a block to an engine stand, which is why Nick gave you just about every other option!

To be fair mine doesn't look at bad and it's had the engine and gearbox hanging on it for extended periods.

Absolutely not ... when the engine was designed that's where they were meant to go ... ;-)

All 803cc and 28hp of Austin's finest ... Morris was still making side-valves then! :-)
