Hello all,I just rebuild my 1380cc engine with new parts.A new clutch, new thrust bearing and new thrust washers were fitted and the lightweight flywheel wasn't changed as it looked in good condition. The clutch type is a pre verto set up and I already set the throwout nut. When I press down the clutch, the revs drop(-200) and the engine makes a small pitch tapping noise and sometimes even stalls. The gearbox doesn't go into gear smoothly and sometimes it just doesn't go into gear what so ever. (The crankshaft was changed due to a rod knock before the full rebuilt i just did) Anyone knows what the problem might be please?

How have you set the throw out stop nuts? There is much incorrect info out there.

Did you check the thrust clearance sometimes called crank end float?

This can happen sometimes when the thrust washers are installed backwards (bearing face towards block)

Thanks for the help the thrust washers was 100% fitted right. I set the bolt as close to to the clutch arm as possible and untightened half a turn however i didnt adjust the 2 big bolts on the side of the clutch housing because a mechanic told me they are already set good.when I press the clutch there's still a bit of clearance between the nuts and the clutch housing which means its setup good.

What was your thrust clearance on the engine?

I would revisit the clutch adjustment as it is easy and free.Check how to do it using a reputable source.Steve..

Wrong. 
 

you press the clutch pedal or lever the arm out. Wind the nuts up to the cover. Release arm the wind the nut in (tighten) one flat. Then lock. 
you are over pressing the thrust washer now.
