After a lot of thought, and peering into my "piggy Bank", I Emailed MED Racing Technologies Sales and asked, Dear Sir, if I were to buy one of your £3,995.00 Multi-web crankshafts, how much extra would it cost to machine the 2 dummy Main bearings ?

To be fair, the journal diameters that I need, differ slightly from an A-series, but it was very disappointing to receive a swift reply, " Hi Thomas, Sorry, this is not something we'd be able to undertake".

Does anybody here have any 'clout' with MED ?

Their cranks come from Arrow. Go direct.

Thank you.

It is for just such Gems of information, that I joined "The Mini Forum"

I asked MED a few years back if they could make some custom gears and they wern't interested either. They initially said it was unfeasibly expensive but wouldn't give me a ball park price, but then said they didn't have the machine to do it. I can understand custom parts can be a pain and very costly, so not worth the hassle for companies if they're not setup for it.

When looking for a custom crank the only people that responded were;

arrowprecision.com who quoted

wilcoxengines.com who were not taking orders due to covid

It looks as though I must book a day excursion to Hinkley, if the trains ever start running again.

I just looked at the video and plant list on their website. Quite impressive and nice to see engineering still being done in UK.
