Just think of all the revenue the government are losing or is this something the revenue collector's don't care about, fuel and all the businesses that the run supports, the enjoyment the run gives to the many people on the day. In my opinion KHAN is arrogant selfish mayor who only cares about the money TFL and probably himself will make ! ...I feel so much better now .

I’ve been living under a rock clearly as only finding out about this now.
One of the main events I was looking forward to as well.
Cars not even running yet so was hoping to do it next year… clearly that’s not going to happen now.

If the LSMOC could get permission to move the start from Cheam Park (which is inside the new outer London ULEZ zone) to the adjoining Nonsuch Park (which is outside the ULEZ zone as it comes under Surrey) then maybe the L to B Run could continue in 2024?

However I think the LSMOC is also finding the costs, administration and overheads for running the event each year are getting more and more difficult and time consuming for the club and volunteers involved.....

It's also been said that the issue is in Brighton as well as they are trying to pedestrianise and stop all vehicles being able to access it.

I did it last year for the first time, travelled down from Leeds and made a long weekend of it. I don’t think it’s all that expensive, even if I had to pay a ULEZ fee.

However, I really didn’t rate the run once you got into Brighton. I’m glad my mini wasn’t ready and I had to take my Bini because driving an auto with air conditioning was a million times better than crawling through gridlocked traffic in my classic with one eye on the temp gauge 😆😆😆

Maybe this is an opportunity to give it a tweak.

Things at the Brighton end may and this is a big may change as the local council has changed from being green party controlled to Labour, what the green party were planning to do to Maderia Drive was pretty horrific, but only time will tell.

Even worse on a hot sunny day in traffic with the heater on full blast for extra engine cooling....one of the reasons I gave up going in my classic Mini. Also most people now know the alternative 'back road' routes into Brighton so they tend to get gridlocked too...

Can't agree with that, I've just got back and I've got to say it was the best one in recent years, I don't drive the official route, it took 2hrs to get there and I drove straight down the ramp and parked up, the guy next me did do the official route and it took him only slightly longer. The improvised re-route the club had to do due to road works seems to work very well, I did hear of a problem on the official route with a broken down car but that's it. You really missed out on a good day, be a devil next year and throw £30.00 of fuel in you car and enjoy yourself.

Yep was a solid day. Perfect weather helped. The breakdown at hickstead wasn't a mini to my knowledge?
Only saw 1 guy changing his head gasket.
Too many Binis for my liking but if they have 2000 tickets to sell then so be it.
It would be nice if madeira drive could be opened earlier to help with traffic or the far end opened as well for a third entrqnce.
Otherwise a very enjoyable day out with a lot of chat with some interesting people

Glad you had a good day and not too much traffic.....next year will depend on whether the LSMOC continue with the run for 2024, here's hoping they do....I was lucky enough to be on the first LtoB run from Battersea Park in London to Preston Park in Brighton back in 1986 with about 220 Minis on the run.

I didn't know the 1st one went from Battersea Park. First one I did was the 2nd event in 87 starting from Clapham Common and finishing at Preston Park, again around 200 cars.

Unfortunate at the start that a Park Run was on and it crossed over the exit of the park for the LtoB run. This meant a delay for those who were in the queue to leave after The Park Run started.

The poor unfortunates who broke down at Hickstead was a red Moke with the rear passengers facing backwards. They were given the royal treatment by Sussex police one marked police car towing and one marked police car escorting(both BMWs) as they were towed up the hill. They had our full sympathy especially as we managed to come to a sudden stop as we got to the bottom of the ramp down onto Madeira Drive. This proved very convenient for parking as we were pushed to the laybay opposite the ramp, closely followed by a second mini with overheating problem. By the time we left there were four other Minis beside us, hopefully not all with problems.

Our thanks goes out to the Marshal who diagnosed the problem as a dirty/faulty connection on the low voltage wire out of the side of the distributor to the coil. My fault, I could have sworn I had cleaned that one when I cleaned all the connectors along the front.

There was also a Park Run last year (which happens every Sunday morning) which meant there were regular pauses for the Minis leaving via the exit gate.....however the queue of Minis are still able to leave far quicker than they were ever able to from the Crystal Palace Park into the local traffic !

Just to let you guys know, apparently there is a fairly decent chance L2B will be on next year despite what been reported and posted on here.

Intrigued as to where it will start from if Brighton are still happy to host the finish.

Have you any inkling as to where it will be?
