Hi All, annoyingly whilst refurbing my carb, one of the bosses for the float lid has snapped off. Does anybody know if this is repairable/worth repairing? Seems a waste to just chuck it in the bin.

Also, I'm booked in for a rolling road next week so if anybody has a decent SU HIF38 body going spare please let me know!

You need a clothes peg.

Shape two strips of metal to go above and below.  Drill a hole through both while clamped together, at either end, and one in the middle.

Bolt it in place using locknuts.

Keep watching for another carb.

I would get a piece of about 4mm thick aluminium or stainless, cut it to the shape of the top face that the threads go through and then drill and tap the hole in the same position. I can't remember or find what the thread is but a M4 would probably work (off the top of my head) then you can put the screw through the float lid, though the body and then screw to the plate you've made. and maybe a bit of loc-tite for good measure. I hope that makes sense, if not i can do a drawing.

Hi Both, thanks for the good ideas. I’ve managed to source a new carb body off eBay so should be ok for my rolling road session!
