Thankfully not! The bearing race has thankfully taken the brunt of it.

The plot thickens.....

With the damaged race and bearing replaced, I reassembled the drop gear housing along with the clutch and flywheel. Guess what? Same issue, engine locked up completely and wouldn't turn by hand. Take the clutch and flywheel assembly off and spins fine.

Fearing it's more gearbox related, I've just removed the box from the engine to see if there's anything amiss. I've shot the below video for reference. All gears spin and engage perfectly, with no issues at all. There is no damage to any gears in the box or drop gears.

As such, I'm completely stumped as to why this is still happening.

Any thoughts?

with the engine and transfer case refitted, does the primary gear spin freely on the crankshaft ?

Yes it does. Only issue is when the clutch and flywheel assembly is installed and torqued to spec.

If the flywheel locks solid when fitted it's most likely because its jamming on something in the transfer housing (check for protruding bolts).
