A 1980 plate it was flat plastic.
The lettering on my x reg was more standard than that, not so curly if you get my meaning.

My 1982 X reg Mini had pressed metal reflective plates from new....
Great mine is 1982 Y reg - thanks this has helped.
Not sure on 82, But on a mates unrestored 83 mini had plastic plates with square corners, And my 84 going from the rear plate (front one replaced at some point) originally had the same (recently had a replica pair made up with the correct front, dealer logo and square corners by someone on Facebook)
