Haha, I hope you never need to use the ejector seat

The car was fitted with a Webasto sunroof when new, however this was removed and a new roof fitted in 2018/2019, I have therefore not re-instated the ejector seat :D , the switch actually operates ancillary power supplies for usb outlets and Dash cam.

Just checking - have you got a recovery type radiator cap or the standard one? Or a flat cap?

Is the extra tank being used as:
Overflow tank
Recovery tank
Expansion tank?

Radiator has a flat cap, and the extra tank acts as both an overflow and expansion tank. I have also fitted a manually controlled electric fan for any very hot days.

Finally sorted out the handbrake problem on the Mini, I thought wear in the handbrake lever was the problem, however after purchasing a pair of new levers and starting to fit them, it turns out that the levers had been fitted on the wrong side, this had the effect of not allowing the brake shoes to sit in there correct position.I also changed the handbrake lever gaiters as the old ones were starting to perish.

I now have a handbrake that works correctly and feel safe leaving it on the drive without the need to leave it in gear or chock the wheels

Did you realise your accelerator extension is on upside-down? - the wide bit is suppose to be at the bottom and point towards the brake pedal to facilitate heel and toe-ing

Thanks for pointing that out.
I wasn’t aware, it is how it was when I purchased the car, that’s another job to add to the list.

Its much better to drive now

I bit the bullet and took the car to a local garage (classic car specialist) for some help to get the car running better.

The garage have adjusted the timing and re-balanced the carbs which have greatly improved the running.

Next job now is to get it MOT'd and sort out the over reading speedo .

The doors on the Mini were getting difficult to close, on checking them I noticed that they had dropped slightly, I thought that it could turn out that the hinge pins had worn and was extremely pleased when it turned out that the door fixings were loose, so after adjusting them, tightening up the nuts and screws plus a bit of grease on the locks both doors shut beautifully.

Took it for its 1st MOT since 2016, I asked the tester not to jack it under the body, I also had to show him how to select reverse and  how to turn on the headlights.

I was happy that it passed with no advisories, it has covered only 1300 miles since its MOT in 2016.

I also took the opportunity to take a couple of photos of the underside

Not Hydrolastic?

No, wish it was but think it would be an expensive job to re-instate it, even if I could source the parts.

When driving back from the MOT the wipers, indicators and gauges all stopped working, when I got home one of the main fuses had blown, on further investigation I discovered the cause which was the wiper motor, so today a change of the brushes and a clean up of the commutator and all is sweet again. Also discovered that I could change the length of wiper sweep by using the

adjustment on the motor

Been getting some water ingress into the car so decided to replace both door seals, also changed both the rear light lens which had small cracks.

Also wired a negative earth supply (car is Positive earth) for my Dash Cams and GPS speedo as they don't work with a positive supply.
