If I was more creative I could have come up with a better title. It seems MED can supply all of the parts to make the 8-port happen.

If I win the lottery, what way should I go to get a street-able exotic engine.

Vmax-SCART has the super chargers, SC has an assortment including the MPi turbo, KAD the sixteen valve, 8-port, 7-port?

How about a Ascaso Engineering block as a base?

I seem to remember an article on the Arden stated that ERA looked at the 8-port for their Mini, but decided on the turbo as the 8-port was a little too wild.

All would take some work to make a usable car, but with three Minis, it would be nice to have one that pushes close to the edge.

Interestingly enough Pierce used to be located about 50 miles from me, not sure here they are now.

Same general area, just a little further away.

If you win the lottery, Vetech's Hayabusa power plant is definitely worth looking at.

Maybe the title should be: Open checkbook and the deepest of pockets build ideas:-)

First time seeing that aluminum block project! WOW!!!! Next level. Love that people are still developing these cars after all this time.

I've just seen the accaso Dyno video on Facebook.
1071cc, 16v, turbo. 360bhp 220ft/lb torque at 8000rpm.
Unreal the development of this engine.

A huge amount of work and it is impressive.

Expensive for most of us mere mortals BUT if you can afford it why not. I follow Steve Morris Engines on Youtube and his very own fully Billet big block (SMX) and LS (SML) V8's.

The amount of work involved is immense and the R&D that goes into this is off the scale. And of course so is the cost. https://www.stevemor...nes.com/engines

So i can fully appreciate what goes into these and also why they are expensive.

Why not setup a FB account with a disposable email address and lock down all the settings so that you're all but invisible, you don't have to have any 'friends' and it enables you to view things from people who can't afford to advertise properly ;-)

I found his use of roller beings for the cam, genius!

Very much so but the thing I like about Steve is he is straight up honest about any mistakes he makes and then why the mistake happened and what he did to actually rectify the issue.

The eight con rods leaving the block is a perfect example and it also goes to show what repairs can be done to a Billet block over a cast one.

Alternator location aside, the original 8 port was designed to be run with fuel injection.  I've seriously considered building an 8 port on MPI block, mostly as there are plenty of cheap unmolested MPI blocks out there.

The large valve 8 port heads recommend a +60 thou or 73.5mm piston. I understood that the modern Arrow/Saenz conrods will clear the cam lobes. Personally I'd run a pre-verto clutch as there are more options available and use a crank sensor on the crank damper; as opposed to the MPI that uses the flywheel for engine position.

While it's possible to set up a modern ECU without cam position it is a desirable thing to have. On non MPI blocks I've used a modified distributor for this. However, on an MPI block it's not so clear if the existing 8 port cams from MiniSpares/MED would work with the stock MPI cam sensor as I've no firsthand experience with the MPI blocks.
