Recently put a set of ULTIMAX STREET 7.5" pads in, there was not much wrong with old ones only they were at least 8 years old, so thought maybe time to replace. The ultimax have given me so much brake fade that I have never had before. Almost dangerous levels 3 up in the car. I cant recall what pads I had in before, but were part of the Mini Spares 7.5" AP brake conversion kit I fitted around 8 years ago. Whatever they were worked fine, but I cant tell from my invoice what they were, it was part of a kit.

Car was, and still is 1293 supercharged, so gets a fair work out, but the new pads are terrible!!!

I guess question is, what would be the best fast - ish road 7.5" pads?

black stuff / ultimax are dangerous, major brake fade imo, m1144 perfect for road use.

I don't think I've actually ever heard anyone say one positive thing about EBC pads

My boss uses Mintex in a number of his various race cars so they must be pretty good  (That and Ferodo but I don't know if they have a mini sized option)

Thanks for the replies there, will get them swapped out! minispares dont recommend those Mintex for road use? Moss also sell them but just call them uprated.

I'm using M1144's in my KAD 7.9" brakes on the road, pads are great, hot and cold.

there may be alternative compounds that are more suitable for road use ?   I'd probably have a quick word with mintex themselves rather than relying on any 3rd party https://mintex.com/c...GY ON WORKDAYS.

KAD sell the M1144 for fast road use.
I think it might say on the box not for road use though.

I found the 1166 to be fine, and when I replaced with ebc dp102 (not available now I dont think) but did not notice any difference except the ebc were twice the price. ;-)

i know people ******* off ebc but i used green stuff for years and found they didn't give good initial bite but outperformed standard brakes once warm and did not fade. start of season just removed and cleaned up, but do this anyway

The very best pads for 7.5 discs are the Pagid Carbon-Metallic as sold by Mini Spares.
It's advisable to change the brake fluid to the AP600 equivalent as it's possible to get the discs actually glowing a dull red hot with no fade (done that!).

I fitted the same AP brake kit and pads as you did and 100 miles in had some really nasty fade when demonstrating the new disc brakes to my mate.  They didn't recover for miles.  I was going to switch them out after that happened but never got round to it and the odd thing is those pads have never faded again.  Bit weird I know but there we are.  Also, said mate I was demonstrating to has a ridiculously unsuitable for the road 1380 which he hammers about and uses EBC green which he swears by.  Funny how people have different experiences with brake pads.  Must be like camshafts.
