KAD sell the M1144 for fast road use.
I think it might say on the box not for road use though.
I believe the disclaimer on the box is due to the 1144s not being certified in accordance with ECE Regulation 90, probably due to the relatively low volume of pads sold not warranting getting them certified.
If the vehicle was manufactured prior to 1998 then Reg 90 does not apply.

1144 are good. I have managed to fade them, but that was in full-on competition and I then switched to M 1177.
There is a company in Rochdale called Questmead who are braking specialists. They are very helpful and you could give them a call, describe your intended use and they will recommend the right friction material and brake fluid. They do an on-line sales operation, or you can order by phone.

m1144s - I used them over winter last year in the snow, awesome. I daily mine all year.
Dot 4 - don't scrimp - Super Blue ATE Typ200 , you won't find better in the same price category.

I like the 1144's too, but sometimes you need to consider usage, in a car with bigger discs ( metro turbo setup with KAD 6 pots) i found they were a bit naff in cold weather on the road, ie they needed a little heat in them to work... imagine having rear brakes that would bite before the fronts on the first appllication... Ive used them on S disced cars an not had the same issue, so I assume its to do with the thermal mass due to the larger discs and pads.

I think cooperman mentioned fluid a few times already but it's worth drawing extra attention I guess
over on the Volvo forum people talk about dot4+ because it has a higher temperature rating, obviously much bigger cars with much more powerful heavier engines makes a difference
probably never going to get anywhere near that in a road car but possibly for race use or if you drive like a total lunatic is there some reason it's not possible to use in a mini

I was lucky to have a friend that pointed me towards a set of NOS Ferodo LBD20/2426F pads on EBay, best I’ve ever used.Recently put a set of ULTIMAX STREET 7.5" pads in, there was not much wrong with old ones only they were at least 8 years old, so thought maybe time to replace. The ultimax have given me so much brake fade that I have never had before. Almost dangerous levels 3 up in the car. I cant recall what pads I had in before, but were part of the Mini Spares 7.5" AP brake conversion kit I fitted around 8 years ago. Whatever they were worked fine, but I cant tell from my invoice what they were, it was part of a kit.
Car was, and still is 1293 supercharged, so gets a fair work out, but the new pads are terrible!!!
I guess question is, what would be the best fast - ish road 7.5" pads?

I know the C-M pads are not low-cost, but they work at all temperatures from cold to, literally, red hot. They are even better than the legendary Copper-Asbestos DS11's which are, of course, no longer made.
If intending on using C-M's to the ultimate you do need competition brake fluid asn the pads are so good that DOT4 fluid will actually boil before the pads sjow any sign of fade.
They do last well too, which further justifies the higher price.
Do you use any pad compound on the back of the Minispares Carbon metallic pads?

No, I just fit them, bed them in and they are fantastic at all temperatures.
