Hello,

I'm currently doing a full mini restoration and now time came for the colour choices.

I want my mini to be an iconic red/white roof combo paint, but as I can see there were plenty of different reds to choose from

So, I would like to ask perhaps some of you have some resources, sites where original colour codes could be found? I'm mostly interested in MK1, MK2 (1960s) colours. but together with a code it would be great to see it in real life so if you have a cool classic red on a mini a photo would be welcome.

Thank you all in advance.

Tartan Red was the main red used and either Old English White (not the Morris 1000 wheel colour version) or Snowberry White.

The 1960'a Minis, even the Coopers, never had red with white roof. The Cooper Mk's 1 and 2 were Tartan Red with Black roof.

It was the works rally cars, and other rally cars which had Tartan Red with O.E. White roofs. The Green, Surf Blue, and Beige cars (Cooper and De Luxe} had OE White roofs as standard.

A colour scheme I have always fancied is metallic Jaguar Ruby with metallic Sand-Gold roof and Minilite wheels. Just never got around to doing one like that.

When I first sprayed my mini in about 68 I used Jaguar Opalescent Green and a Jaguar Silver roof. Loved those colours until myself and another Mini driver were asked to enter an a MN event as Team Castrol by the rep. Tartan Red with Snowberry White; just a bit different back then.
