one part of the lada that seem to fail ive been told is the link bars to body. So i looked at them today

they are 1.5mm plates, will do new bolts instead of studs for the mounts.
one also very bad part of the lada is the handbrake mounts, its on pedastels that are so vunerable, so they are cut off and will get welded inside of the car

i also did some strengthening of the 5th link mount to body

i drilled out the spot welds that hold the strengthener for the bonnet latch, reason is i need to put a RHD wiper motor on this car, but no lada factory set up will fit.

so ill be lookign for something like a corsa wiper set up.
at the garage today was this car too, went out in the wrong side of it and for a 2000cc vauxhall it went very well!

cant wait to get my lada out and done now lol

My mate Howie has been away so ive not been to the car for some weeks now. He is back and we will be on it next week i think. I have done some bits else where though!
I bought a bmw m44 engine from Jason HRD racing, it was running but had been sat for a while. it was £200 so i took a gamble.

cams looked abit minty but it had been stood for a while. when i stripped it there was signes of water int eh bore, but it all looked good. I took teh block and head to lane ends engeneering prescot, and they did their magic.
It got a new set of rings, a hone, head skimmed, exhaust gasket area skimmed, all valves out and reseated, all very cheaply! Highly recomend them

i had teh box at work too, i started to make a box mounted further forward gear stick for it. Reason is box mounted always feels better to me, and also, in teh lada itll work better, its like 4" further forward.

not finished that yet as i started on my mk1 golf brake conversion f or the front. I mocked it all up using Lada 2110 discs, they had the wrong offset for me, so i bought some fiat croma turbo discs and it seems like it was meant to be!

not quite finished, need to weld some nuts on the bracket to hold the caliper, and then itll get a abs ring and sensor, but i wont be able to do that i think...
these are some special -30mm stearing arms for it, these are for the toyota yaris rack conversion we will be doing soon

stripped and painted the bootlid, its rough as im using it to mould off, ill be making fiber bonet, boot, floor trays, and a few other bits too

My white car is on the road now, its been good, another lad in my town has a green one, and we took some pics of them. really enjoy the cars, cant wait to get thte 2103 ont eh road

not major progress, infact some steps backward!
First the gearbox stick mount is done, it looks heavy but its strong and will work fine

well happy with that, and put that into storage for now
Bought a sump for it too and measured up to see if it fits.

Loads of room, also measured up for the escort type ally fuel tank. my mate had one for the escort so i tried it

Not quire right, the rear of it hits the spring mounts, so a simple fix could be sorted. but there is a guy very local to howie who makes fuel tanks, sil ill get him to make one and put a sender in it too.
Had a well pleasing time with an air chisel too

THat sound deadening is well heavy. sorted that out in 1 hour, everyone was deaf afterwards in the garage!
my friend who lives local who i go racing with also bought this, thought id share it here. its a spaceframed mini shell with a hyabusa engine, its 240 bhp. we did some testing at 3 sisters, it is out ofthis world!

the lada is goign to get an english axel now, its from a mk1 cortina, blackline shafts with the standard bearings, withthe flange on the end. but that means the rear is ford, the front is Lada. So after all the research of the frotn end,, thats gettign changed now, i have bought some cortina front hubs, the lada bearings aparently fit so chat gtp says, and i have heard of it done once before. So will have to make some new caliper mounts. the golf calipers, had a look at them , one is totally done in. so for the price of new calipers, plus a little more, i can have 2 ally princess 4 pot calipers. so looking at doing that.
