Hi,

I'm rebuilding a 1275GT. I got a new subframe for it from MiniSpares. I was advised to get it blasted and epoxy coated before fitting it. This I did, but it came back with the mounting pins at the rear coated as per the rest of the subframe. They did mask the nut threads, but unfortunately not the pins where the bushes mount.

It's using new Polyflex bushes. I've silicon-greased the mounting pins and bushes etc as per instructions and the bushes slide on OK. They can also rotate on the pin. Is it OK to mount it with this epoxy coating still on the mounting surface? I'm concerned about trying to remove the coating and putting the pins out of roundness etc through cack-handedness.

I'm aiming for a good, usable, well-functioning car with the rebuild as opposed to factory-perfect / concours or anything like that, so I'm happy to leave the pins coated if doing so it not going to cause any problems.

Can anyone advise please?

Thanks!

Leaving them coated shouldn't be an issue.
