I'm pretty sure mine were located in the far back left corner of the engine bay... :) That's where my new horn sits anyway... :xxx:

what about under the wheel arch somewhere? I had my musical ones bolted to the underside of the parcel shelf in the boot.

Won't the get damaged by spray thrown up from the road wheel every time it rains?

Mount the compressor verticaly somewhere it will not get wet. They dont make much noise when the compressor is full of water. Buy some more tube and run it to the horns mounted behind the number plate. The horns wont be muffled and should give some one a real fright when used :xxx:

Ok... Looks like I might have been wrong about air horns... I think mine must have been an extremely old/neglected unit. It was rubbish, I think it was louder inside the car than it was to those around it! :xxx:

I gave it to my driving instructor in the end... Wish I'd have cleaned it up and kept it now... :)

Not to mention one of the horns is pointing upwards and the compressor right at the front of the engine bay just waiting to fill up with water. LOL. One thing ive also noticed, you dont have the vent duct in there so there is loads more room and i hope your Dixie horn is not your only horn.

if you click on the link in my signature that takes you to my mini project, the go to page 11 and look at the pic of the engine bay, if you look at the top left hand corner of the picture you can see my air horns mounted there, also ive put the compressor behind the dash. so its vertical enough!!

Bit buggered if you have a brake servo mounted though? :xxx:

Dipping the oil is no problem because the horns twist up outta the way. the compressor dont get wet because i put in a splash guard which i forgot to mention, and yes i have a normal horn too.
