It could  be down to the weather to some degree. How's the fuel line routing? Hifs aren't far off the exhaust & full load at lower speed is going to pump the most heat out.

The fuel line and filter do run quite close and with the heat wave that would make sense. Il leave it until cooler weather to see how it reacts. Now I’ve changed the clutch this was the first time I’ve managed to get up that hill without the clutch slipping.

You could rig up a catch can, but don't let the end of the hose get submerged. If it persists it could be the float valve. The float could also be split and they can wear on the pivot shaft which can make them sticky.

I’ve rigged up a temporary manifold heat shield out of some metal ducting to keep the fuel filter and pipes protected as it only does it when the engine is hot (did it again today down the M1 after 20mins of driving this was before ducting/ heat shield was installed) Maybe need to look into manifold wrap to keep the heat down as the pipes run so close to the manifold from the pump.
