Need help. The rad cooling fan on my mpi comes on when in traffic and when outside temp is high. The problem is it does not go off again until I turn off. I have changed the sensor near the thermostat and also the wiring to the sensor as Rover tech fix. Where do I go now as dont want fan running when should not. Temp gauge only gets to half on the gauge. All help appreciated.

I wouldn't know, but it is switched by a relay so you could investigate there.

The fan relay is on the firewall near the fuel inertia switch. Worth swapping it for a known good one, could be sticking.

Still have issues. Have changed the sensor the wiring harness the relay and now the thermostat. The fan come on today after approx 5 miles of steady driving. the temp gauge was just under half. Last resort pull the fuse but dont really want to do that. More suggestions to resolve this please. Thank you

Check thoroughly the connections at both ends of the sensor wire and continuity, in the wire? Wiggle the wire while checking.
Any disconnection will trip the cooling fan into a safety mode, ie. remain on.
