Which one do you think is better for feeding the twin SU HS2s? Is one quieter than the other? Pros & cons ⛽

AUF214MS is the Mini Spares part number for the German made Hardi electric fuel pump that was recommended to me and I like it, I have one on the mini and also the MG1100.  You should give it consideration.

I will no longer recommend the ECCO as the fuel pressure is a bit high as it spikes to 4.5psi. Depending on which page you look at and the box, the pressure specification all varies. Maybe I've got an odd one but I'd say that is unlikely.

 

At the same time, you will struggle to get a pump which truly outputs the correct pressure.

.

For that reason, I usually end up rebuilding mechanical pumps.

Thanks Croc for your reply. As you can see, I actually bought that pump five years ago (from Minispares) but decided not to install it—and instead sold it—after a friend told me that only a tiny trickle of fuel came out when he mounted it on the rear subframe.

2. I don't want a pump that is as noisy as the one shown in the YouTube video.

My first assumption would be that a filter was installed before the pump. Never a good idea if you ask me (apart from a coarse screen type).

They will also do that when installed up-side-down. I've found them an awesome pump.

I have Ecco pumps on 2 minis at present and will be fitting another when the mechanical pump packs up on my wife's mini. They are the correct pressure for a mini, if you buy the right model. It acts exactly like an SU Pump, only ticking when the fuel pressure drops. I believe they are pos or neg earth and come complete with mounting bracket etc.

A New Zealand product which I know is used on Morris Minors. MGB's etc. think they're on the Fuelsave website, where you can see the various models available.

I recommend them. (hopefully I'll get a parcel in the post after this)!

One  is on a 1293 with 80bhp and the other is on my 1098 with 78 bhp. Absolutely no problem with float valves or modern fuels.

Mine has an Ecco pump which is the older style which is a closer copy of the SU pump. It must be over 20 years old as my grandpa put it on years before I had it

I’ve never checked the fuel pressure (it’s on my list of things to do), but I’ve never had float valve issues and I’ve tried 6 different carb setups over the years

I did buy a Hardi pump as a spare last year as I couldn’t find a similar spec Ecco pump

I was talking with my friend today, and he told me he thinks that pump was defective. Some time later, he bought an MGB GT and installed another German Hardi pump, and he says it works wonderfully.

That ECCO fuel pump model is exactly the one I was looking at yesterday. It delivers between 2 and 3 psi, which is precisely what a twin SU HS2 carburetor setup requires. Therefore, installing a pressure regulator might not be necessary, as it won't flood the carburetor float chambers.

Whistler, would you be so kind as to tell me what place have the ECCO pumps installed in your cars?

That is the ecco that I have.

 

I find it peaks at 4.5psi and the pressure then drops due to the needle leaking.
