Wipers On All The Time

While trying to figure out headlight issue with mechanic friend, a passing ‘mechanic’ from a next door garage said, hey did you know you can raise the bonnet a bit more by propping the bonnet arm on the wing seam - actually I did, don’t like to but was too busy thinking about matters in hand.
Long story short, wiper stalk got knocked on, car was left running to test headlights (cable from solenoid had burnt through) went back to car could smell burning. Wiper arms had jammed against the raised bonnet edge. Wiper motor very hot.
Wipers wouldn’t turn off. Left an hour or more to cool, no change.
Have replaced wiper stalk and park switch with new. (Wiper stalk was not period correct and sounded a bit crunchy)
Wipers still won’t turn off.
Only thing of note is that when wiper stalk is carefully pressed or pulled up slightly there is a halt in wipers, this might not be a clue/could be misleading.
Not sure how to chase this fault further.

I was just about to post here 'Parking Switch' it's located on the Wiper Motor. Last time I looked, these were available as a spare part.

You could try some hot wiring or multimeter testing at the stalk connector block to help figure out if it's park switch or stalk.
The park switch supplies the stalk via the brown/light green wire. The stalk connects it to red/light green & the motor runs until the park switch disconnects the brown/light green wire.
On the stalk side those wires should have continuity in the off position & be isolated from all the other wires.
On the car's side they should be disconnected when the wipers are parked & connected when they're not - use the ignition key to get them to stop in the appropriate places to test.
