Well, it ran (for a little while).
Soooo, I fitted the new battery, the new coil pack, reconnected everything else. Cranked her over with the plugs earthing out on the block and I had a beauty of a spark on each plug. Sooo, I wound her over til the oil pressure was up (about 5 seconds I guess). Fitted the plugs back in, wound her over again, chug chug, tried to run.
So, double checked a few things, seemed all OK, so I gave her another crank and.....CHUG CHUG......... POP....CHUG CHUG...POP...CHUG CHUG.....KABOOOOOM!!!!
Me thinks the timing is out a little! I've basically aligned the trigger wheel so that when the engine is at TDC, the missing tooth is 90 degrees before the VR sensor. From everything I have read, I am sure that this is right.
Problems now, well, the fuel in the tank is about 7 months old, so basically no good. The carb is not yet setup properly (but I think it's somewhere near) and the timing needs setting up right.
I tried to run it with the EDIS disconnected from the Megajolt, so it should have run on a basic 10 degree advance, but it didn't want to run properly at all (would basically not start). Soooo, more fine tuning tonight should hopefully see me right!

Check your wiring, I reversed the coil pack 2/3 and 4/1 sparking 180 out of phase and nearly gave the me a heart attack when it backfired.
Yeah, I'd wondered about that, but I am 99% certain its correct. Will double check tonight!

Wonder if the VR polarity could knock it out of phase?
