Regarding the rear brake, I think people are looking at this the wrong way round:

If, you half the number of wheels then what's left is carrying twice the load so it would take more effort, not less, to lock the rear wheel. As your car will weigh a fair bit less at the rear than a standard mini I suspect the original bias valve won't be too far off the mark. Still, I'd opt for an inertia brake valve as it would cope with varying axle loads better (the extra weight of a passenger will have a bigger effect on the "all up" weight of a car that weighs bugger all to start with).

With only one rear brake you'll want it working as well as it can.

Think I've also got a single minifin drum kicking around somewhere - who had thought there'd be a use for it

I also can't understand why you'd go to all that trouble with your gearbox casing when the mods to fit a rod gear linkage would surely be easier and lots cheaper. You'd also gain from better, more modern, components (pot joints vs. rubber U J's for example) that would be fair easier to find spares for.

But then, I can't understand why anyone would want to knick a wheel of a superb handler like a mini :dozing:

Mind you - gotta make your Hyabusa conversion easier when you get round to it!

Hello Adam,

Thank you for your PM.

There's nothing new on the car since my last message.

Regarding the rear brakes, I know I have to work on it. Regarding the gearbox, I don't want of a later type as the chassis is made for a remote type gearbox.

A little news of my Mosquito...

The left hand side door was completely destroyed. It has just been repaired. The job done on this door is just perfect! It's been repaired by a mate.

I'm also working on the passenger area. I want to make a red leather belt around the passenger area. It's not easy to explain in English but I'm sure you'll understand with pictures.

The trailer should be finished and delivered next week. I can't wait to have it in the garage!

I'm very happy, I've just finished the first part of the new dashboard of my Mosquito.

I make the same than the original one, in fiber glass, but this one is in machined alloy. Instruments will be fitted as in classic Minis.
I've fitted the chrome ring to add a "Mini touch"

You might wonder why the dashboard is black... It's just a black plastic fitted to protect the panel. I don't want to remove it as long as the dashboard isn't finished.

D-Day for my Mosquito's dashboard today... I've drilled the last holes and I've done what I was expecting for a long time now: I've removed the black plastic protection!

Here are some pics...
