So which engine are you going to be putting in it?
Or where you just thinking about a conversion?? :D

shush Ed! That can't be me :D
anyway I've got something else in mind now. Do you like anagram's?:
126AB

is real good to see that more upgrades happerning to ya minus ! ..
i have toyed with the idea of some kinda beam...
(but didnt want to go to radical, just wants it on the road ! lol)
plus not sure how much extra strain i would like to put on the shock areas of the minus ..
did just think of getting alloy radius arms ! but u seen how much they are !!

anyhos please keep us updated specially on any needed strengthing on the shock/arch areas

Mick ...

Yeah, I've come to the same conclusion, and I'm gonna lay up a load of woven kevlar to re-inforce the top shock mount/rearwheel arch area.
I think alloy radius arms are very expensive

B16A2!!! NOO!! we could have had a mini group of G13B :D conversions!! and then turbo them!!
I already know of 3 on this site.
Dont you need an extended front for the B16A2?? Dont get me wrong I do like B16A2.

it'll fit. I'm gonna make it
swift engine is a reallly good a cost effective conversion, but I don't want to have to make bulk head mods for the intake

plus I fancied the reliabilty of stock mass produced ecu for reliability so K-series 1800 vvc and b16's were always gonna be my front runners

not going for Aftermarket engine management or throttlebodies. Trying to keep price down

What mods you expecting to need to make? Bonnet bulge? Extended front?

No, it will fit it without an extended front, I'm not using any of the metro converted frames. Allspeed frame with mini suspension. but I'll need to put a small box section in the cross member on the bulk head to give clearance to standard throttle body and intake. Also need to fettle the exhaust manifold slightly. Then I'll find a place to put the rad? Probably set it into a large maguire style bonnet bulge.

Wirng the standard ecu will be the problem. I'll struggle with that. I'll definately need some help

Well I'll offer my help in anyway possible, mine should be complete by August. Will probably be using the standard ECU to get it in and running, then installing Megasquirt extra very shortly after.

Don't suppose you want to do group buys on driveshafts, Quaife LSD and a custom FD??

gonna get the drive shafts from allspeed. along with the heavy duty cv joints, but I'd be very interested in the quaife LSD and the correct final drive.

brief update:

Forget my plans for vtec for the time being.
Nurburgring prep has started. Engine is out in order to investigate oil pressure gremlin. If it is simply gearbox swarf in the pump (fingers crossed everybody please), then it is gonna get sorted farily swiftly an I'll be treating myself to a high lift rockers and perhaps a nice quaife ATB LSD.
If it is broken up piston rings then I'll be forking out for a re-build. Either way it should be ready for the ring run, whatever state of tune it's in!

I've also got hold of a torsen LSd box for a k-series so may have a little tinker with that and see if it'll fit up front whilst the a-series is on my bench!

I was just going to mention the ATB Quaife diff, a couple of people i know use them and its more than man enough for even rally use.

Actually the ATB is a bit of a mild diff. It's great in a road and track day car, but I wouldn't consider it for racing.

Actually I prefer rear end bashing so you better lock your tent at night :dozing:

Right. forgot to take pics, but engine is now in three chunks. gearbox, block and head ready for a big clean and re-re-build and to find my oil pressure gremlin.
The good news is that there is nothing majorly wrong. A wahser in my four pin diff had let go and some debris had been floating aroung in my engine oil. No serious damage though. Thank God -even the diff is undamaged!

Bottom end bearings look fine - even centre main, but when you rub you finger over them they feel ever so slightly pitted. But they were gonna be replaced anyway, whilst it's apart.
New oil pump - Probably.
Oil pressure ball bearing is badly scored so it's getting replaced.

It has a major leak down number three piston so new rings are on order, and one valve above number three also needs re-lapping.

Apart from that I'm taking the oppurtunity to give it a little upgrade, as I've mentioned before. Quaife Auto Torque Biasing diff, which requires a straight cut crown wheel (fingers crossed they do a 3.4:1 final drive to suit my 13s) and new output shafts too.

It will also be treated to swiftune 1.5:1 roller rockers. I can smell 100 plus bhp and 100lbs of torque at about 2 rpm, LOL
Vroom Vroom.
