How easy is it to fit a sump guard and is it worth it?

it is a bit of a pain in the arse but well worth it, especially on a lowered car.

Most of the sump guards I have seen have the same set up:

Two holes to be drilled in subframe at the front and two at either side at the rear of the subframe. trouble is, if you line the gaurd up dead centre, then the holes at the rear have to be drilled through a vertical bit of the subframe. so you either have to widen the holes on the sump guard or offset the guard slightly.

have now had a look and the car does have adjustble ride height. So just need some adjustable dampers to match

and also cased out getting a reversing light sorted. Just need the switch that screws in here at the side of the rod exchange, and then feed the wires back to my mates mk4 rear lights.

You can see the round opening on the left hand side of the box in this picture

Dunno what ride height is.
It is set at just enough to clear speed bumps at 1 mile an hour.

I know you probably know this already, but what you posted above sounded a bit odd so:
Adjustable dampers are different to adjustable suspension, they aren't adjustable for stroke (to accomodate lowered cars) but are adjustable for bump/rebound levels (basically how firm they are). What you might need is dampers for lowered cars, which have about 1" less travel. But there's no hard and fast rules about when they are needed.
Also you might need the modified front top shock brackets for lowered cars, these keep your dampers in a more vertical position than the standard brackets do when the suspension is lowered and move the damper up a little.

LOL.
Yes dan, I did know that.
I want new adjustable dampers as my current ones are ancient and too harsh. I think because they are standard length koni's, and the car is extensively lowered. So I want new ones so I can set the re-bound to suit me and lowered ones to suit the ride height. Spax, Gaz and proshocks all do ones with both qualities and have an easy method of adjustment.

Thanks anyway though.
