my advice is go hillclimbing. Less chance of car damage, more relaxed, timed and much more friendly. You can do what you want to your car and you see alot more than mini's all the time

How about 12 car rallies? They are good to get into and great fun.

rallying is expensive, stuff brakes n thats costs alot the nature of the surface your racing on just damages everything...and thats not even on gravle/forest rallys

not the point tho because its still ruddy good fun :dontgetit:

hillclimbe, the cost to race time ratio of appauling and quite alot of stuck up people there (not saying everyone is tho)
also
rallying can be expensive single venue events can be about £180 upward then stage rallys there even more and there is ALWAYS people with better cars even in low groups then you also race along side WRC spec cars aswell in caerwent petter Lloyd had one of his imprezas there and basicly wiping the floor with everyone

You missed Bill Sollis mini Miglia on ebay last month dident sell, starting bid was 18k. But you try to build a winning Mini for 18k and you'd probley be one of the back markers on the track.

i've spent many years from a child on the racing scene with mini's (thanks dad!) I started first of all finding someone local that rallied mini's (my dad!!) and started going along as pit crew and changing the odd wheel and eventually getting bored. I got to watch a lot of the action and learnt a lot! Then I applied for a MSA navigator license, which you will need for almost any rally event. Then to my horror minis had to go into a special group for stage rallying so my dad quit after almost 20 years on the scene. I went my seperate way and got my MSA drivers A and international A license and spent 2 years rallying track(1-3 day events) in a MK2 Escort. Then i moved on to Forestry in a scooby. But now Pembray, down south wales, allow any car that meets safety requirements, and with an engine size of at least 998cc to take part in its track events. I do advise joining anyone local to you, in the type of race world you want to join, and just getting a feel for what its all about, maybe help out in the "pit" changing a wheel like i did. You will get access to the track where generalpeople can't go.

Being female put me at a disadvantage as I had to prove myself. I have now given up due to expenses. So YES you will need a lot of money even with sponsors. Im on a superb wage for my age, but even with the sponsors I just can't afford it! So money is a must
