The front body earth on most regular Minis is the large philips head screw on the bulkhead crossmember stiffener plate in front of the driver with all the black leads tagged to it. You should find that this is the earth for your indicators too but it might not be on the Clubman.

On the bulkhead crossmember, in the engine bay. Near the master cylinders in a RHD car, directly below the triangular stiffener plate that joins the crossmember to the inner wing, just below where the wiring comes through the stiffener panel. It's a massive screw head with several heavy gauge black cables terminated to it. How old is your Clubby? I'll try to check some manuals and things for you.

its a '79 GT
below the cylinders is a wire strap that runs to the bulkhead from the engine itself, looks like wire brush wires all together and crimped at the ends.

Why not join a wire to the earth lead from the indicator cluster and fix it to earth just till you get some day light or time to fix it properly.

I know that when my indicators play up I flick the hazards on and off and they go back to normal. How bizzare!

feble change your hazard switch or take it apart and clean it!!

But it's the only thing that keeps my indicators sane!
Or is it actually the problem?

it is the problem, turning on the hazards disconnects the indicators so if there is a bad connection in the hazard switch you mite find the indicators stop working!!

Right, new switch time then... God, I've been through so many switches with this car, it's unbelieveable!

as i said a bit of electrical cleaner and you can take the old one apart and clean the terminals inside it and it'll be fine again for years
