i recently decided to try these spot/fog lights (i dont know what they are yet) out on my mini, they were my dads and have been in my garage for years, they are the 3 light setup as shown below.
and from the side
the bulbs are these:

does anyone have any idea if these are legal or not?.. as i have been told by a few people to get it checked out because they look quite big and stick out.
cheers

The one thing I would strongly advise is, speak to your local MOT man on the 'legality' of having 3 lamps.

they must be wired with an iluminated switch only onto the HI or main beam (with a relay)for spots
and low beam or dip for fogs (and you still cant use them if someone is coming the other way EVEN in fog)

And with 540 watts total output on main beam, you need a bigger alternator too (ssshhhhh, i know, i keep the caps on the 130 watt lamps 'most' of the time )
Still, makes driving in the country lanes at night a whole different experience.

fitting them as said running that wattage you will probably need to upgrade your alternator. they will need a stronger cable running the supply for them using an relay wired up from the power to the main beam, so they dont work on dip. you can also use a switch, so you have a coice of them on or not as well.
