Basic out line of the legislation
Max output from any transmitter is 4 watts, thats what you get as standard when you buy a CB. You are not allowed to use any sort of Pre amplifier (amplifies the receiving signal so you can litteraly pull in a weak signal, IE one that is farhter away). You are not allowed to use any type of amplifier that amplifys the transmitting signal. also known as burner, linear, booster.
Bottom line is, 4watts is the legal limit.
Me, well i do not condone it. Do as I say, not as I do!
I live in the country and there is no one around on air, using the amps i can at least get some one.
Ive had some one from ireland before now, though it was a cold clear day and very fuzzy. Again although im in the country side im also in very close proximity to the coast, with very little to block the signal.
You can legaly buy amplifiers and is also legal to sell amplifiers, but its illegal to use them. Much the same as radar detectors.
I strongly suggest you read the legislation, its not that complicated. Just google it
