It could be coming up from under the wheel arch's and also the floor, in through the windscreen seal, the door seal, many place's really. Get some to spray water onto the car while you sit inside and see if there are any noticable leaks.

Is it just the floor or up the side?

take the front carpet out when you do it, you will probably see the water running down the toe board!!!

a few more possible entry points could be: fresh air vents at either end of dash, missing grommets in floor, door seal or corrosion somewhere up front !!!!

(oops, door seal already suggested)

Do you need to top your rad up alot? Im guessing that will show if its the heater. (like Bungle said)

If its up your door card's is there bubbeling along the bottom of your door's? Also how well do they fit to the frame?

Ive had water come in through the air vents but that was only when I went through a huge puddle (more ford) at 50 :w00t:

There is a leak on mine in the lower left corner of the windscreen and also along the door seal where the door does'nt quite fit on the hinge properly. Two more things ive gota fix......

I used to get it coming up from the floor but that appears to be sorted now ;D

edit: to slow in replying but still as above ^^ :-

i dont have top air vents theyve been welded shut. and when i finish work monday im gonna take the carpet out and sit and watch the doors are sitting nice and flushso it must either be the heater or coming up through the the bottom somehow. (GODDAMN MINIS CANT LIVE WITH THEM CANT LIVE WITHOUT THEM)

If you have aftermarked sills it may be that the drainage points are blocked OR if they are the cheap kind the patterned bumps will be present but just need holes drilling in them. I had exactly the same problem as you with loads of water in both footwells, normally when the car had been standing so knew it was not water being thrown up through the floorplan. Took car to my local mini specialist who showed me what to feel for, they are ridges approx an inch and a half long think there are four on each side of the car, if you feel a lip on the inside (opening towards the centre of the car) then alls ok , if its smooth (bump but no holes or slit) then there are no drainage holes despite the pattern being there. £20 got both sides of mine drilled no problems since.

cheers BM

Well if the door cards have got water marks on them, remove the door cards and ensure the plastic membrane (or silver gaffer tape if it's a pre 1992 model) is covering all the inspection holes effectively. If not apply more gaffer tape!

But the front windscreen seal is a favourite leaking hot spot, but i've also heard that water can find its way in if the front subframe tower bolt seals have worn?

So remove the tower bolts, clean up the area, fit new seals and perhaps some silicone sealant and tighten again.

if it only lets water in when your driving you may have found the problem however if it lets rain in at a standstill then still reckon its the sills...good luck
