Another yellow engine, just a shame the mini it's in is in an unroad worthy condition at pressent.

Looks neat and tidy. The light coloured paint work and lack of brake servo gives the appearance of plenty of space to work.

I had a look on the net for any Mini engine pics for inspiration and found these:

Does anyone know what is running down the sides of the inner wing troughs where the bonnet rests on this pic? Is it to stop vibration?

This one has them too. Plus nice chrome pancake. And is that a.. garden hose?

i think those strips along the wings are for soaking up water, so it will be easier to rust

The strips (i was told) are to provide a protective barrier and to stop the bonnet from rattling against the wings causing chips in the paintwork. Not sure how reliable this info is though.

This is what my race 1293 used to look like:

But now the engine bay is just filled with a boring old Vauxhall lump:

It looks a bit better now as it has a black rocker cover rather than that minging one, and there's a bit more to come soon.

I would say the strips are more trouble than they're worth since those channels are an important drain-off. You might prefer to put U-section flexible strip over the raised lip of either bonnet or the inside of the wing channel, or both, as protection without obstructing the troughs.

I liked your A-series. Is that the air filter that is on the front cover of this January's Mini Magazine?

Haven't got around to cleaning up the engine bay, yet! just replacing things that needed replacing (oil filter, sparks etc..)
Will probably be a job either half way through or after fitting the flip front.
