my starting block, a 1992 rover mini sprite with a rather larey lump..

1380cc, Omega Cast Pistons, Kent MD286 Camshaft, Ni Tempered and reground Crank, Lightened Flywheel, "Stage 3" Head (Valve sizes 35.7 / 30), 1.5 Roller Tip Rockers, HIF44 Carb, Maniflow LCB + Superflow exhaust, Aldon Yellow Distributor, Aldon flamethrower Coil + Ignitor Elec. Ignition, Jack Knight S/C C/R Gearbox, S/C drop gears 1:1 ratio, Semi Helical Crown wheel and Pinion 3.44 ratio, Crosspin Diff, Turbo Clutch.

Spax 40th Adjustable Dampers, Grooved and vented 8.4" Ferodo Brake discs, EBC Green Fast Road pads

12x5" Superlight alloys, Falken Tyres

Wood and Pickett arches, Cobra New Clubman Seats, Rev counter and Voltmeter gauges, Black doorcards with chrome furniture, chrome gearknob, Leather and chrome Mountney Steering wheel

according to the aldon graph ive got shes good for 108(81)bhp@5870RPM and about 103Ib/ft at 4900RPM :rolleyes:

bad points are mainly cosmetic. passenger A-panel, scuttle, under rear passenger window, small sections of gutter and doors. the timing is slightly out and shes pinking a bit.

done so far:

rear seats - gone
center console - gone
stereo and speakers - gone
parcel shelf - gone
boot carpet - gone
voltmeter - gone (i have 2 for sale incidentally)
steering column drop bracket - fitted
seat adjuster brackets - fitted
fire extinguisher - fitted
custom gauge pod - fitted (tho gauges not wired yet)

to do:

fit - 12x6" revolutions on yoko a539s, hi-lows, SD rear cage section, KAD quickshift, wire in gauges

shes in at richard longmans today for a tune-up, and next week the bodywork is in for welding. lightweight doors will be on order next month or so.

let the transformation and weight saving commence! :rolleyes:

Nice one. I want more pics of the work you've done!

Oh, and please don't ruin it with those tractor wheels that they call revos (note lower case).

tuning results: from 80 at the wheels to 89bhp :cool:

this weekends work:

* carpet out
* new rims (12x6 proper revolutions)
* KAD quickshift fitted

carpet has gone, no nasty suprises luckily.. a touch of surface rust here and there.

fortunately the arches seem to have the necessary work done to clear the 6" wide rubber.

the KAD was a bugger, only for the fact that the original pins wouldnt knock out without a fight. great now its on though, 2.5" movement maximum between gears :rolleyes:

the rear cage is in (partly) what a bar-steward of a job that was, trying to arrange a spring loaded roll bar (you have to ratchet the legs inwards for clearance if you didnt know) into the smallest place in a mini, the back seat.

back legs are bolted, front legs i need a longer drill bit for. its not going anywhere for the time being..

my back still hurts, the missus back is knackered (she helped me force it into possition - ooh err).. but i think its worth it.

sorry if the pics are big, theyre the first ones ive taken with the new camera.

how much was that rear cage?

i take it she just bolts into the seat belt mounts (ie no welding)

blackout - my honest opinion is theyre cheap and you get what you pay for... theyre comfy but not built well and i find them too wide..

ron - no, its a proper cage so drilling through the floor and arches is involved.
