When I had a clonk, it drove me absolutely crazy for a week .. But, I then found out the seat belts where in the rear bins and they were clonking about ..
Now, I did actually feel very silly after I found out that was the cause
I would imagine yours might be slightly more complicated however ..

Why?
You've just been told to check the tower mounts, not the subframe mounts !

Their tight, what else can I check. Hell If I'm going to go to all the trouble of dropping the subframe down to check them I might as well change them.
....there's logic somewhere there. I'm sure of it.

we had a really annoying clonking from the front of our car which took us ages to find. It turned out to be the suspension knuckle had worn right through the plastic cup !!!!! There was no way of knowing without taking it of. It looked fine because the rubber gaiter was still covering it !!!

can you show me a link to this plasic cup on mini spares?
3rd time someone has said to check it. I have no idea were or what it does tho. Do you need a cone compresser to change it?

suspension knuckles
Hope the link works !!!!!!
If you take the wheel of and look along the arm from the ball joint, the knuckle sits in the other end. It`s the bottom bit of the trumpet !!!!!! You do need a cone compressor to get them out !!!! Lovely job !!!!

sod it. orded two knucles bits as well as a cone tool.
Feck I'm gonna be busy. If it does not fix it then I think I will have to go mental with a chain saw.

I was getting clonking noises from me purple Mini.
Turned out the Nylon cups had worn.
Rear ones are tricky to do, You have to position the trailing arms at the right angle to get the trumpet and cones back in.
The fronts... Well. They just make you swear. loads!
