my suggestion would be to grind the weld back a little, lay some more weld over it so its structural enough. Then just weld a strip of thicker steel over the seams. A little bit of filler and it would look ok, just not on the inside.

thanks everyone, ye adam that was th eplan but im abit mad when it comes to lightweight parts and making things lighter so i think adding more steel will be abit of a wasted cause. im sure i will think of something may buy a ROTTEN mini for its seams and weld new ones in, that way atleast a mk2 is on the road after it all.

thanks for the encouragement aswell everyone, oh and tedd its got no docs unfortunatly so thats another thing thats put me off selling it really, i think thats the main reason i havent sold it yet to be honest.

EDIT: just a quick edit to say the metro has a VERY BIG relevance to the mini and it IS apropriate in this thread as that was going to be my test bed for the BM head and turbo plans i had, if i keep the mini then that plan will still go ahead

in what way does it not have documents? do you know the reg? you can apply for them from the DVLA.

i have a reg it has no V5 and im only 16 so im abit unsure what tehy will say to a 16 year old asking for docs and ma dad wont call and ma mum wont no what to say

lol, all you have to do is go on the website and download the V62 form, fill it in and send it off with a cheque for £25 and hey presto! your V5 comes through the post!

THANKS MATE!!!!!!!!! saviour i was panacing (sp) about it being relly hard work

i kinda came to the conclusion working on a rusty shell was a bad idea and it was depressing me so i cracked on with the runnning gear and what can i say....
BIG UPDATE TIME!

aaaaaages ago i bought brand new raduis arms, complete built up brake backplates and uprated shoes and when i sent my subby stuff to be powder coated for the front end my handbrake retainers, std camber (subframe to radius arm mounts) were done in green so everything at the arse end can go back together! well bar K .A.D camber/alignment mounts and rear ARB will get pics when the subby is stitch welded and sprayed black (just for the time being until i can afford to get it powder coated green)
